I’m studying for my Writing class and need an explanation.

The response should be a minimum of 150 words. Your response should be substantive. I do not want you to simple agree or disagree, but rather comment on why you agree or disagree, raise more points, indicate commonalities or differences, discuss the issue in relation to our readings, and/or raise new questions about which we can all think. The response does not have to be more than a well-developed paragraph. A sentence will not get you credit. I don’t want you to respond with “Great job. Keep it up.” That is an F response.

Respond to this: “Islam which is the second largest religion in the world after Christianity, started to exist in the year 610 by prophet Muhammad when he was 40 years old and Muslims believe that Allah’s word was revealed to the prophet through the angel Gabriel. They also trusted in some of the other prophets as the Jews and Christians, including Moses, Noah, Moses, Abraham and Jesus. The Muslims believe that Muhammad was the last prophet. Muhammad had an important role to spread Islam during that period. And after he passed away his followers continued after him to spread Islam throughout the Arabian peninsula. After that they started to spread Islam in Egypt and north Africa by military expeditions and these operations called “futuhat,” or literally “openings,”. And it did not stop at these areas but it spread all the way to modern Spain in the west and northern India in the east through trade and commerce between Muslims and not Muslims. A lot of people of these countries believed in Islam and others did not. Muslims used the policy of speaking and persuading to non Muslims to show them what Islam is and why it exists. Also they showed them The Quran which is the major holy text of Islam and what it says about and the story of it. Also they showed them the Hadith which is an another important book that includes some of Muhammad’s speeches.

The Shiites and the Sunnis are two major denominations of Islam. The idea of Shiites and Sunnis goes back after death of Muhammad, There was a big debate about who should be in charge after him as a leader. This led to a schism in Islam, and two major denominations emerged into Sunnis and Shia. Caliph called Abu Baker took the leadership after Muhammad and that what Sunnis prefer, but Shiites believe that Muhammad’s daughter husband called Imam Ali had to be the one who takes the leadership after Muhammad because they believed that Muhammad wanted Ali to be in charge after him and they have proves from books that show some of Muhammad’s speeches Indicate that. “
